The term “gift-in-kind” refers to giving goods and services to a charitable institution. The motivations for gifts-in-kind vary, but include concern for the environment. Many donated goods are either second hand or otherwise surplus. If not donated to people who need them, they might otherwise end up in landfill. In this case gifts-in-kind provide a means, particularly for corporations, of doing social good with things that would otherwise be a liability. |

DONATED AUTOMOBILES We have been given several vehicles in good running condition that we have been able to use in multiple ways.
1. We maintain a motor pool of three vehicles for our clients to check out and use for trips to medical appointments, job interviews, classes and other important dealings.
The only qualification is that they are legally and physically able to drive but are lacking safe, reliable transportation. |

Other
motivations are found when people really want to
help with a cause or organization and have no extra
income from which to give.
Sometimes they can give items or services and
participate in significant ways.
For
many years people have given items that are
gifts-in-kind.
Food for pantry programs and clothing
programs for the poor are good examples. Our organization has been built, in many ways, with gifts-in-kind. In fact, our facility and the land it sets on were an gifted to our organization as the largest gift-in-kind that we've ever received.
We have been given Commercial kitchen equipment, construction materials,
furniture, carpeting and tile, desks and file
cabinets, tables and chairs, bedding, clothing,
office equipment including fax machines, computers,
network hardware, copiers, and much more. |

2. We offer a ride program for those clients who are unable to drive themselves to appointments and for large group outings and events.
3. We have repaired and given many donated vehicles to people in need of transportation to remain employed and for independent living.
A new use of gifts-in-kind is found in stock for our thrift store. We are given above what we need to serve our clients so we can put gifts-in-kind to work providing funds for the expansion of programs and service areas.
As you can see, gifts-in-kind are an important part of the
participation that our community provides so that we can together
accomplish the goals for serving those people with low or no income.
If you have items that you believe we might be able to use,
you may bring them to our facility.
It is helpful if you call about large items first so that we
can let you know if we can use them and have space for them.
At this time we do not have the ability to pick up items very
often. In this case, please
call and we can let you know if we can arrange a pick up.
